The new work by David Conte and Lawrence tells us Barletti of Cecilia Mangini (Mola di Bari 1927) essayist, film critic and especially one of the most important exponents of Italian cinema documentary.
His most famous work is probably the singing of Marana (1961) where His camera scans the gestures and glances of a group of kids in the suburbs of Rome, while the commentary of Pier Paolo Pasolini recounts the stories and dreams.

Barletti and Count confezionano Non c'era nessuna signora a quel tavolo alternando le immagini dei documentari con il commento appassionato della stessa Mangini legando il tutto con immagini di vecchi proiettori e fasci di luce che mettono in risalto quella polvere che solo apparentemente ricopriva il materiale che viene proposto allo spettatore.
L'opera di Cecilia Mangini basterebbe da sola a soddisfare l'appetiito di appassionati e spettatori che guardano al cinema con interesse, ma Barletti e Conte oltre a compiere un'operazione colta si preoccupano anche di fornire alcuni strumenti di approccio al tema, ottenendo il risultato di ridare vita ad un intera epoca e ai suoi protagonisti.
